In the world there are many countries and states where different languages are spoken, and it is therefore obvious that there are many people who speak more than one language, a bilingual person. In this way, being bilingual involves advantages and disadvantages that we can see below, why being bilingual has good things and bad things?
On one hand, bilingual people have to coordinate two linguistic systems, coordinate two linguistic systems offers you some advantages or benefits but also some disadvantages. Being bilingual includes an increase in mental flexibility and a high development of cognitive abilities. Futhermore also provides you with a great ability to communicate in the languages you control.
On the other hand, from what has been seen, who knows more than one language, then it costs more to learn others, since there is an interference between the two phonological, lexical and phonetic systems.
To conclude, it seems to me that as in everything, it has good things and bad things, but the advantages that it gives you to know more than one language seems to me much more important than the small disadvantages that bilingualism or even trilingualism supposes.
