Should the gobernment ban alcohol and tobacco?

In my opinion the government shouldn’t ban these addictive substances, there are many reasons why I think that would just make worse this problem. First of all people who are addicted wouldn’t change their attitude towards wanting to buy these products, so they would just try to find other ways to buy them, what would generate a great industry of mafias around these products, making them too difficult to control. Other reason why I wouldn’t ban those drugs is the quality and types of substances they add on them, because now everytime you buy a bottle of alcohol or tobacco it always appears the information of what it contains explaining the type of substance and the quantity of them, so if you just make them illegal nobody would know if they had  added any cheaper and harmful substances. Those are the problems we should be fearful of. In addition to that the mafias would increase their cost trying to gain more benefit argumenting that their product is illegal and it’s more difficult to get, as it happens with other illegal drugs.

My purpose to solve this problem is quite different from the one proposed here, I would maintain those drugs legal but I would make strong campaigns against drug use showing the consequences of taking them and increasing their prices making them less available.
